Despite its freakish appearance, the lukh cockatrice is a curious and inquisitive bird-beast, often finding its way into chicken coops and trying its very best to blend in. Nobody is quite certain why, as the creatures do not eat the people who fall victim to their deadly gaze, often seeming startled or even apologetic.
