Adoption and Feeding
Valenth is an Adoptables website-- in other words, you can claim any of a wide variety of different creatures to decorate your forum signatures or websites with.
As you and other people feed them, they grow and develop; each species has a total of five possible forms, three of which can be found based on how you care for your adoptable!
Your First Adoption
If you're simply passing through-- maybe you saw one of our adoptables on another site and wanted to get one for yourself-- adopting without an Account is simple and easy!
Visit our Adoptions page, pick the species you like, give it a name and gender and click the button.
You'll be taken to a new page with HTML and BBCodes for your adoptable; simply copy the code you want and paste it into your signature or website and you're done!
If you might like to keep all of your adoptables in one place for later, edit them in the future, or even trade them with other Valenth members, you should register an Account before you adopt!
Adoptables created prior to registration can't be changed or assigned to an account later on, and they can't be renamed, traded, given items or backrounds, or used in future site features.
Registration is easy; if you're 13 or older, all you need is an email and a username!
Your Adoptions (Registerred Users Only)
If you've registerred an account, you can access any adoptables you've adopted on the Your Adoptions page. This provides a listing of all adoptables you own, along with HTML, BBcode, and Valenth-only link codes, as well as a Release link for each individual adoptable.
You can click on any of your adoptables on this page to reach their profile/feed page.
Beware! The Release function is permanent-- any adoptable you Release is deleted and lost forever! Left-clicking this link will give you a confirmation popup; opening the link in a new tab will not do so, so use caution!
Feeding Adoptables
Clicking on any standard-linked Valenth adoptable will take you to its profile page. Here, you can see stats such as the adoptable's owner, Species, life stage and Trait, date of birth and so on, as well as its bio, and any trinkets it may be holding.
In the top left-hand corner, each profile page offers you three different food choices to give the adoptable; clicking one will feed it, which you can do for each individual adoptable once a day.
Feeding adoptables earns you krüs which can be spent on items, accessories and special adoptables, and adjusts your Reputation with one or more Factions based upon what food you chose-- this will be explained in more detail later.
Note: Many owners practice Rigging-- effectively forcing any user who clicks on their pet to feed a food of the owner's choice. This is not an official or moderated function of the site, but many members have developed their own rigging etiquette to follow. Bypassing a rig to feed normally is frowned upon by the pro-rigging community.
As other people feed your adoptable, it will grow and develop, advancing through the Alpha and Beta stages before finally becoming one of three Omega forms based on how it was fed as it grew.
The entire development process takes 500 levels-- one level per feed-- provided no special items are used that might affect it, such as Alchemy Stones or Elevelixirs.
