Book IV Chapter 11: Forest Jewels
Many of the Silisk of Faerwethr make their living within the Miracrystal Mines.
Because the energy of the crystal takes far longer to endanger them than other humanoid races, the raw gemstones can easily fetch a high price.
Oddly, on their way to and from the mines, the miners often encounter miracrystal boas near and around the mine entrances.
Despite being purely arboreal, these snakes seem to make their way into the mines, sometimes wandering into the deeper levels where they pester and watch the workers, occasionally stealing and devouring tiny bits of crystal.
Over time, the silisk of Faerwethr have come to see the iridescent snakes as guardians sent by Dilndrou-- they are carried upon one's shoulders through the mines until work is done, and then placed back in the trees where they belong before the miners head home again.
When handled by the silisks, the snakes are always docile, happy to curl around an arm, shoulder or neck and enjoy the company for a while.
To date, no one has found any logical explanation for this behavior.
