The crowd at the [[GrandCircle Jetersborough Circle]] was visibly excited, men watching and murmuring to one another about their picks, jauntily-dressed ladies carefully holding their hats atop their heads as a sharp gust of wind threatened to pluck them away.
The sun shone brightly upon the track, and the jockeys on the track couldn'tve been more grateful for it-- rain had been forecast for the day, and running goats through mud was never anything but treacherous.
They paraded their [[Bovi bovi]] along the track, the sturdy animals marching along with horned heads lifted high for all to see; the jockeys may have been in control, and their owners may have paid for their inclusion, but the goats knew that the spotlight was truly// theirs.//
Near the front of the stands, a [[Nefirian rotund man]] dressed from head to toe in white ruffles and lace watched the procession carefully, his crimson hair tied back with a single ribbon, one arm wrapped around the waist of his [[Bastion blonde companion]], clad in a sharp black suit.
He pointed onto the track with his free hand as a white bovi strode by on its way to the front of the track, its rider gently stroking the beast's head.
Chattering amongst themselves at length, the couple seemed unaware that they had drawn the attention of quite a few spectators nearby, gossiping shamelessly about them between talk of odds and the finest hats at the Circle.
With the goats finally in place, the track at last fell silent.
A single, thunderous crack sounded, and the bovi shot out of their stalls.
The crowd cheered, and the race was on.
