pronounce: korr-oh dock
Terror of Chimri criminals and citizens alike, the Corro Docs-- short for Correctional Doctors-- are part of the country's iron-fisted law enforcement system.
Where the survarani patrol and watch for trouble and the Cronois leupaks stand guard and subdue violent persons, the Corro Doc is the final hand of justice, collecting suspects and delivering them to the Jillaume courts where their ultimate fate is decided.
All Corro Docs don a special black-coated uniform with silver buttons. More reminiscent of a military force than the law enforcement found in other countries, they are highly-trained in combat and restraint techniques; while Corros do not carry lethal-force weapons of any kind upon their persons, they often wield sedative-loaded dartguns or miracrystal-powered stun-guns for particularly tough or stubborn arrests.
Corro Docs always move in collection teams of three to five; these teams arrive on the scene in a distinctive black pseudoleupak-pulled carriage. Typical collections involve the team unloading from the carriage en masse, surrounding and subduing the suspect or suspects involved before loading them in, climbing back on, and riding away to the nearest containment facility.
It is the clinical swiftness and cold, calculated efficiency of a collection team-- as well as the typical disappearance of any persons collected and rumors of what horrors befall them-- that makes Corro Docs one of the most frightening aspects of life within Chimri cities.
On the rare occasions where a collection team fails to make an arrest due to especially violent or powerful suspects, or a dangerous beast is the cause of concern, one or more Silvermanes arrive on the scene to perform a surgical execution in lieu of collection.
Corro Docs are sometimes called the corries-- cory singular--, particularly by criminals.
Corro Docs should not be confused with CosmoDocs, who are SRO cosmetic alteration specialists.
