Capital of South Dreamsong, Gier is one of the oldestHumancities in the world, now a pinnacle of modern industry and technology.
To many people, Gier is considered the figurative absolute middle of the world; it serves as a communications and travel hub between all modern regions, and as a result is a veritable melting-pot of people and cultures.
Despite being well-loved by its people, Gier is far from considered one of the most beautiful cities. It is plagued by smog and smoke from its factories and trains, and the streets are well-worn and muddied.
The architecture is second to none, however, and towers over the people of the city as an undeniable testament to human will and ambition.

A favorite attraction of visitors to South Dreamsong is a gigantic, riveted brass dragon statue that sits upon a platform in the middle of Gier, a few streets down from City Hall.
The sculpture has clockwork inner workings and wiring that can be glimpsed within seams around its joints, but they seem to be purely decorative.
