It is said that the first people-- if they were people at all-- to land in Hel looked at the sparse, frozen northern landscape and wondered if they had found the nether-realms after a lost bet.
One of the coldest and bleakest regions of the world, Hel is inhabited by an extremely small number of living people-- all of whom serve the vampire and Viadante nobles who rule the land.
There is no fire or brimstone to be found; just an alarming number of undead, frigid elementals, and native beasts in a world of white.
Perhaps unexpectedly for a place inhabited largely by the undead and demonic viadante, its ecosystem is flourishing. Particularly adventurous mortal travelers sometimes come to see it despite the obvious risks.
