One of the harshest regions in the world, Lucsus is a land of near-eternal, blazing sun and heat. Few natural animals live on the surface; most are small and seek relief from the heat in their dens. Most plants are succulents such as cacti, and the only solid ground beyond the flowing sands is sharp, rough red rock.
Much like the native fauna, the Luxi peoples do not spend their days above-ground unless there is no alternative.
Instead, Luxi society dwells far below in subterranean tunnels dug by the chimaera and their servants and slaves. Life truly flourishes in those caverns, and everything from beautiful, bio-luminescent subterranean fungus-gardens to underground lakes and rivers can be found, supporting a rich ecosystem beneath the merciless deserts.
