Morte
Morte is often called "the hidden element"; it does not exist naturally in any state, despite cultural beliefs that it is created in the bodies of cruel, abusive, or immoral people upon death.
In actuality, it is created by corrupting the vitae of a dying creature, and has nothing to do with sentience or a person's deeds in life.
It is the heart and blood of necromancy; magical uses revolve around the creation and control of the undead, as well as such acts as draining the vitae from living creatures for use in other endeavors.
Its aura is dark, putrescent gray-green, and its essence is a thick, viscous, and highly toxic liquid.
Viadante are the best-known source of morte; they do not contain it themselves, but create it in other beings as they feed upon them.
