Rodents are mammals native to almost every environment on Valenth. They come in a wide variety of colours, shapes and sizes, and are one of the most common types of mammal in existence.
Rodents have teeth specialised for gnawing, which grow constantly throughout their lifetime. Rodents use their teeth for cutting wood, chewing through tough-skinned foods, and defending themselves from other creatures. Most rodents feed on seeds and other plant matter, though some are insectivorous.
Rodents are very important members of the ecosystem, serving as a food source for many predatory species and acting as a method of seed dispersal for many plants.
**Sand-cavies** are a domesticated breed of giant rodent, used as mounts and beasts of burden by the [[Chimaera]] of [[Lucsus]]. Sand-cavies are prized for their sturdy, yet agile forms and friendly natures.
The chimaera are very fond of their sand-cavy mounts, sharing food and shelter with them and holding intricate memorials for them when their lives come to an end.
Sand-cavies come in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and coats, and the chimaera are not averse to selling them to other people for the right amount of coin.

**Sand-Cavies** are a domesticated breed of giant rodent bred for work and transport by the [[Chimaera]] of [[Lucsus]]. Sturdily built, agile, and exceedingly friendly, the creatures are a curious but functional match for the surly merchant-people of the sands.
Above all else, the sand-cavies are prized for their ability to swiftly scamper out of harms' way during [[Amol]] attacks-- a feat that no other land mount to date has managed.
For this, the sand-cavy has won the hearts of the Sorilian people, who hold the creatures in the utmost respect, sharing food and shelter with them, as well as holding intricate and heartfelt memorials for their cavies when their lives come to an end.
While the cavies are native to Lucsus, the chimaera recognize foreigners' fascination with their beloved companions, and are not against selling them to other races for the proper amount of coin.
Sand-cavies come in a wide variety of coats, colors, and patterns-- including long and short-haired, solid whites, blacks, browns, blondes and grays, spotted, speckled, and so on.
