Welcome to [[Valenth]]!
We have a **couple rules** you should look over before [[Adoption adopting]] your first pet, or taking part in our forums.
Should you have trouble understanding them in whole or in part, feel free to PM a [[Moderator moderator]] for help.
**P.S. - Despite popular belief, not having read the rules //doesn't// excuse you from having broken them; you may as well do so and give yourself the upper hand! ;)**

- **__Valenth is a PG-13 Website__**
**__We adopt a PG-13 rating and stance for our website, and moderate all forums content to adhere to it as well.__**
Unlike most other [[Adoptable adoptable]] websites, **our content isn't necessarily for children!**
Valenth is a **[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_fantasy Dark Fantasy]]-[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk Steampunk]]** (or Dreampunk!) world, and as such, heavy topics such as violence, morality, alternate sexuality and drug use may appear in our storylines and settings, along with occasional strong language and adult themes.
We avoid explicit imagery by all means, but the //implications// are there, and we allow and even //encourage// our users to discuss and debate them in greater detail on the forums if they wish.
**If this makes you uncomfortable**, you and your children can easily avoid it by simply [[http://valenth.com/adopt.php adopting our pets here]] and avoiding the forums and plot updates. :)

- **__Each user is allowed a MAXIMUM of five accounts! (as of 2nd January, 2013)__**
Each unique player is allowed to have five accounts, **maximum** (one "main" account and up to four "sides"). Don't forget that you can purchase extra space on an account if you need it!
**If a player is found to have more than five (5) accounts, all of their accounts will be banned.**
**__TEMPORARY GRACE PERIOD POLICY:__** If you have more than the maximum number of accounts, [[http://valenth.com/tickets.php file a help ticket]] with a list of all of your accounts, including your designated main account and up to four side accounts, as well as any extras you possess. Extra accounts will be deactivated with no penalty during this temporary grace period.
- **__Valenth is an English-only Forum (as of 2nd January, 2013)__**
All public forum posts and profile comments must be written in English. Non-English languages are not permitted in any public area of the site, including the Public Stables, the Guildenstern Hall, the Trading Post, and the Trading Center.
Unfortunately, we have had multiple issues with users using foreign-language threads to hide bad behaviour and rule-breaking from staff over the last few years. Since we do not possess the resources to monitor such threads on a daily basis, we had no choice but to disallow the use of non-English languages in all public areas of the site.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.
- __**Adoptables belong in your signature, your profile, or the Public Stables forum!**__
This is to keep from spamming up the forums when people are trying to have discussions!
You're welcome to place a reasonable number of adoptables in your [[http://valenth.com/user.php?act=signature signature]] (//don't exceed the signature size limit-- see below!//), and if you want more room than that, you can display them on [[http://valenth.com/adoptions.php your profile]], or even make your very own feeding and showcase thread in the [[http://valenth.com/forums/forum/8 Public Stables]]!
- __**Auto-Click Programs and Websites are NOT allowed!**__
Valenth adoptables are easy to level up-- so in return, we ask that you not make use of auto-clicker programs, scripts, or websites that handle the work of browsing the site and automatically opening adoptable links for you.
You //are// allowed to use browser addons like Snaplinks, which require manual user control to work-- //but **you do so at your own risk!**//
We cannot replace adoptables you accidentally delete because of the functionalities of these tools, so be careful!
- **__Harassing other members is not allowed!__**
This includes **fighting, flaming, name-calling, threats, blacklists and other general aggressive behavior** unto your peers.
If you have a problem with someone, take it up with them in a PM or make use of the site's ignore features and forget about them!
- **__Exploiting bugs, glitches, giveaways, and multiple accounts will result in a ban!__**
We want Valenth to be as fair and fun as possible for all of our members. If you find an exploitable bug or glitch, notify a member of staff and then leave it alone--doing otherwise risks having action taken against you. In addition, abuse of multiple accounts (5 per member, please) to bypass limits is also disallowed.
- __**No Spamming!**__
This includes short, rapid, and repetitive posts or off-topic discussions (OUTSIDE of the Emery and Guildensturn chat forums-- we won't moderate them!).
To keep from spamming, edit your posts if you have something new to add and no one has responded to you yet, and try to keep the topic of the post you're replying to in mind! Don't beg for things or post your adoptables outside of the allowed areas, either.
Note that **necroing posts**-- responding to boards that haven't been answered for a while-- is **totally okay** here!
If you want to renew a conversation, go for it. :)
- __**The Trades are for //Trading!//**__
If you want to trade your adoptables with other users, host a giveaway, or simply transfer adoptables from one of your accounts to another, that's all fine.
However, using the trades to show off, or share your opinions with the site is **not**. Find a suitable forum for your soapbox-- //there are plenty to choose from!// The [[http://www.valenth.com/forums/forum/9 Trading Post forum]] exists for trade and service advertisements, too-- please make use of it!

Keep these guidelines and tips in mind while you explore Valenth!
- __**Signatures should be a maximum of 150 pixels tall.**__
This simple rule is to keep the forums tidy, readable, and easily loadable for all of our users.
This includes all adoptables, banner graphics, text, etc-- smaller is better!
If you're not sure what 150 pixels looks like, reference this handy banner; your entire signature should fit within it, heightwise.

- __Issues with [[CashShop Cash Shop]] credits should be reported through the ticket system. __
Some of our providers may not always automatically credit you; if you don't recieve your credits in two hours, create a [[http://www.valenth.com/tickets.php help ticket]] with a dated receipt/screenshot or other proof of purchase and the amount of credits you purchased, and we can manually credit your account for you!
- __A variety of friendly users and staff and helpful features are available when you need them. __
