Varanius
The varanius is a special maintenance-order automaton created by the MIRACLE Energy Co. While originally intended to aid people by accessing hard to reach places in larger machinery for maintenance and repair, the varanius has become very popular as a companion "animal" and household appliance.
Varani are slender, flexible constructs that resemble monitor lizards with metallic limbs, short synthetic "manes" and decorative metal goggles. Their main bodies are covered in a rubber skin, and their tails are rubber cords designed to avoid snags.
Almost every aspect of a varanius can be customised, and they are very popular with designers and collectors from all walks of life.
Varani are roughly as intelligent as the lizards they resemble; they are incapable of speech, and can only follow preset commands programmed into their miracrystal cores.
