[GMR] Ack! I am frozen!

Postby dragon_gal on Thu Mar 26, 2009 12:28 am

Hello! I plan on researching more of the effects of freezing the pet! (Really!) My experiment is if feeding frozen pets a alignment after level 501 could efect the :O: . I have frozen an egg. Currently I am feeding the pet lawful foods. Past level 101 I will unfreeze it feed it a lawful food so it evolves, and refreeze it. Past level 501 I will have it be fed neutral foods. When it then passes level 1000 I will unfreeze it and feed it one more food so it evolves. If it is a lawful waterwing, then feeding after the 501 point affects alignment and proves my hypothesis right.
So here is the pet:

interesting experiment, maybe a little along, there is only a problem: you must be fast to change the food type to 501! ;)

I've wondered about this for a while; I even considered designing an experimental paradigm for it, but ultimately I couldn't come up with anything good. This is definitely an ambitious experiment, but I'm not sure there's another way to do it given what exactly you want to test.

One small question: will you be keeping track of the pet's mood and the relative food strengths during this? I expect the changes in mood will be pretty predictable, but it's more valuable data, and naturally you should be making sure that your lawful and neutral foods are equal in strength.

I'm not sure I envy you trying to get an experimental pet to level 1000+, but I wish you the best of luck!

This will be a very long-term experiment, as I'm sure you know. Have you considered placing him in your signature to help the process along? The adoptables in my signature always grow faster than anywhere else. It may pose some problems with precise leveling close to the time that you switch riggings, though. Anyway, good luck!

Wouldn't you have to get it to 1003 (ensuring a higher number of natural feedings) to test your hypothesis? Perhaps I am just not understanding the experiment. :S

I fed it anyway. I'll try to remember to come back daily to help you out. :)

I think you shouldn't post the pet here. Someone may ruin the experiment by changing the link and giving him other foods =/
BTW, what about the ones who generate codes? I've stubled upon this when experimenting with Lapsworg rigged at "fiction+food" =/ He was never posted anywhere and still kept eating some mess like "sundrops" and "stolen souls" =/ hate when people do this.
Good luck anyway.

Why should someone ruin the experiment? ok there are persons a bit unpleasant, but in every esperiment there is a little risk...

due to this: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3086 experiment, I'm not sure he will evolve, because he was frozen so long time. but good luck, I fed him :)

Fed him. You're going to have to monitor this little guy really closely if you want to change the food in time. ;3

Good luck on keeping a close eye on him so you can unfreeze at the right time!

You need to post the pet, so it gets fed that food. And yes people mess up, happened with my old experiments (thats why i used more then one pet, helps but still may not be certain.)

hmmm that is really weird. I would expect to since thats the point of unfreezing.

I fed it. Very long and intersting experiment!
At about lvl 470 you should unrigg it and say in big bold letters "PLEASE RIG THIS PET YOURSELF" or something like that... I don't know if I was understood xD

Please try not to feed all of my pets vital foods, It kinda spoils it if all they're all lawful. I don't mind one or two Lawful pets, but I've only unrigged my pets for the sake of surprise when they get to Omega. Variety is a great thing people, remember that.

I read somewhere that the pet would evolve as the mood they are in the moment you unfreeze it. For example, If you feed it all his live with lawful food until 500 and freeze it before it gets omega, then you change his trait to moody and unfreeze it in that moment, the pet will be tainted.

Well, I don't remember where i read that, and if I really understood it, so I'm not completely sure. What I like to know is how long it takes until he changes his mood.

good luck.

Obviously, because of the Sundrops that it is being fed with, your experiment would definitely turn into a pure Omega. However, it would be interesting to see it change during it's final stage.

I wish you luck.

Are you taking into consideration the different potencies of the food you give him? Some foods will swing a pets alignment more than others after all.
