The term "ghoul" is usually used for a demon or monster that feeds on corpses and sometimes a term for a grave robber. Considering the first definition, I'm not sure if it would be either a viadante or vamp seems how they go after living victims to begin with.

As soon as I read the word 'Ghoul' (Actually, slightly before that, with the stumbbling and the grotesque movement and all), Fallout 3 popped in my head xDD

Anyways, I thought I may have been correct when I decided to go against the general thinking of 'vampire' when the corpses started to first arrive. Now I feel somewhat satisfied, even though vampires and viadantes are still possibilities.

Oh my gosh, yes! Fallout! Yes. 8DDDD That is epic.

As for the creatures being zombies/vampires/Viadantes/etc... I hope its something totally different. I like that everyone is coming up with ideas of what it could be, but the common thought is of zombies or vampires - as awesome as that would be (I'm a crazed vampire obsessed person here, I'd love the addition of a vampire) I'd really like to see something TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR.

Like... Hmm. Gargoyles would be very interesting, actually. That makes me think of the old 90s television show (hahaha nobody knows what I'm talking about) where they turn in to stone at sun up and stuff. Some kind of twist on that creature would be awesome... But then there are the vampires, and .... Fff, I don't know, there's so much possibility! And I'm rambling.

Anyway Zombies make any boring day into a fun filled one. Then add in a mystery person and you have a nice dose of trouble. More trouble ahead? I do so hope.

Yes, that's the dictionary definition. Within Valenth, the term might be used to apply to the form of undead we see munching on their relatives in this chapter of the story.

I always liked the White Wold RPG version of Ghouls; basically they are just humans fed droplets of a vampire's blood and gain some of their strengths but are enslaved in the process. These ghouls are really Undead though.
The oldest version of the mythological Ghoul is a person who has resorted to cannibalizing the dead, devolving into a flesh-eating monster.
